“Cry of the Earth” Call for Scores
George Dousis's choral work “Soil, Sea, Flame, and Breath” has selected as one of the ten winning in the international “Cry of the Earth” Call for by the EcoVoice Project. The piece was featured on Sunday, 12th, in Chicago at the concert honoring the winners.

Harvey Phillips Award for Composition
George Dousis has received the prestigious Phillips Award for Composition Excellence from the International Tuba-Euphonium Association (ITEA) for his remarkable composition “Styx.”
This piece, commissioned and recorded by renowned artists Sergio Carolino and Hugo Assunção, draws inspiration from the mythological river symbolizing memory and oblivion. “Styx” performed in 2025 at the Gravíssimo! Low Brass Festival in Alcobaça, Portugal, marking a significant moment in Dousis's musical journey.

Out of 160 submissions from across the globe, I am thrilled to announce that 'Travel Diary' has advanced to the final round of 8 works. It is true honor to have my piece featured this celebration of contemporary music creation.

Community Concert – Abu Dhabi Four Notes
On Thursday, September 26, 2024, the distinguished soloists Katarina Krpan and Ioannis Potamousis performed the world premiere of the movement “Pentozali” from the work “Greek Suite” by George Dousis, transcribed for piano four hands.
The program also featured works by Claude Debussy, Antonín Dvořák, Sergei Rachmaninoff, and Ivo Josipović.

The Greek National Opera Alternative Stage and The Medium Project musical theatre company co-produce the new chamber opera based on Henrik Ibsen’s masterpiece Hedda Gabler.
About George
George Dousis was born in Athens, Greece. He has established himself as one of the most outstanding contemporary composers in his country. His music is characterized by high technical perfection, sonorous richness, and penetrating delineation of characters when it comes to stage music. His works include a Piano Concerto (2017), a Cello Concerto (2023), works for symphonic orchestra, and works for small ensembles. Works for the stage include eight operas of all kinds, while the family opera The Magic Pillows (2020) and Hedda Gabler (2018) have been commissioned by the Greek National Opera.
He studied composition with T. Antoniou and attended compositional seminars with B. Ferneyhough, W. Rihm, M. Stroppa, Ivan Fedele, B. Mantovani, and S. Sciarrino, among others.
His music has been performed by ensembles including the State Orchestra of Athens, the ERT National Symphonic Orchestra, the Athens Municipality Symphony Orchestra, and smaller ensembles around the world (U.K., U.S.A., Luxembourg, Germany, Spain, Denmark, Mexico, Portugal, Finland, etc.). As an orchestrator and arranger, he has also worked with major orchestras such as the Boston Pops–BSO and the Symphonic Orchestra of Cannes. He is a member of ISCM GR (International Society of Contemporary Music).
Recent projects include the opera Nizinski, The Prophecy of Fire (premiere TBA), and a series of orchestral works based on ancient Greek myths.
Jazz Activities
George Dousis’s contribution to the field of jazz music is also noteworthy. As the founder of the band Momo Trio, he has made three productions (two vinyl and one digital) and has released two purely personal jazz albums (the second is to be released in 2024). He has also collaborated in numerous concerts and festivals as a jazz pianist.
